Stemmed flower bowl in flowing reactive blue and green glazes. Draped over a handmade plaster mould, many layers of different shades of blue and green combine, leaving the feeling of flowing waters, coming together in the teal-green with soft browns of plant growth.
The underside of this handbuilt stoneware bowl is imprinted with a crochet doily made by my late grandmother many, many years ago. After the first bisque firing, this is given an iron oxide wash and the crochet details left unglazed to highlight the raw texture.
I love when I can include a memory or place in my work - in this case, both are, where the beautiful seaside walks around Malahide combine with the memories of one of the most amazing women in my life.
Size*: 23cm diameter / 8cm height
* Due to the handmade nature of all work, size can differ up to 1 cm
Please contact me at any time if you'd like to see more photos / a video of this piece. Reactive glazes has a magic of its own, and I'd love to share it with you.
