Medium sized footed bowl handbuilt in highly grogged black stoneware clay.
Each bowl was created by a technique called pinching. A medium ball of black clay is shaped in the form of the bowl itself, and then a hand rolled coil of clay is attached to the bottom. To highlight the texture of this clay, I then scraped the sides with a toothed medal kidney to finish up with smooth, flowing lines, yet the nature of the clay still there.
After the first kiln firing, they are then brushed and poured with an ancient copper glaze at different thicknesses to keep to the natural, earthy look of the African collection.
These bowls are real multitaskers, whether used as decoration or to serve snacks. They can also be used separately or, if more than one collected, as a lidded set. Handwashing recommended.
Approx* measurements:
First bowl: 5.5cm (h) x 16cm (w)
Second bowl: 4.5cm (h) x 17cm (w)
*Due to the handmade nature of each item, measurements can vary up to 1cm
