The outstanding feature of this medium sized plate is that not only is it handbuilt, but my hands became part of the design with fingerprint indents! Scroll through to the last photos of an action shot of this process (that specific process photo on another piece).
After the first 24 hr kiln firing, which changed the piece from just dry clay to the in-between bisque form, it was glazed in a combination of blue and green reactive glazes, with golden accents on the edge and on the 3D fingerprint detail. Finally, the outside of the plate was glazed in a matt bronze over the 3D grass texture, before being fired a second time to 1,220°C. This final step changed simple clay to stone. Magic, right?
