A spectacular nautical inspired centrepiece, incorporating the movement of water and sand, the strength of the rocks and the power of the current.
Organically shaped to highlight and continue this movement of nature all around us.
Handbuilt using stoneware clay, it has a good weight and "feel" to it. The interior is glazed in layered reactive glazes and a pool of molten blue glass, with beautiful patterns forming as they flow together. To represent the rocks and cliffs, the contrasting exterior is matt bronze.
As per my usual raving about the wonders of layering reactive glazes, you will see how the first two photos of this piece looks similar yet so different. No filters involved, no special lighting involved - it's literally how the light falls that brings out either the warmer (greens, yellows) or cooler (blues) colours. I love this "special" feature. It's a living artwork.
(also one of the reasons why I would highly recommend in-person viewings if ever you have the chance!)
